This morning I went to Graceland and saw the King's house, saw his cars, inside his jet, his performance clothes, and all of his awards.
I was more impressed with the tour at Sun Studio. Real life tour guide (no audio guide bull) who was funny and all in all awesome. It was incredible to be in the recording studio that started so many infamous musicians.
After Sun Studio, I went to the National Civil Rights Museum right down the street. I didn't realize it was at the Lorraine Motel where Dr. King was killed.
I'll be posting photos in a bit.
People warned me that Memphis wasn't a good city, that crime is high, etc. People can say that same stuff about Philly but I still love it. Of all of the cities I went through in Tennessee, I liked Memphis the most. The people there were really nice. I wish I had gotten some more time to walk through the city and check out Beale Street. I'll have to save that for next time.
I drove from Tennessee straight through Mississippi to Louisiana. Mississippi never had me bored.. there were so many hills in that state! I was glad to finally make it after another long night drive to New Orleans.
I'm looking forward to my next day and a half in this city. Love!
btw Emily, I now have a crew driving with me; Carl the car, Juliet my GPS, and my radio, Chuck (only because I kept wanting to call Carl, Charlie).
That's it for now.
